Surface Oncology

This project involved adding and expanding 12,000 SF of interior renovations and upgrades for new office and laboratory space for Surface Oncology on the 8th floor of their headquarters at 50 Hampshire Street in Cambridge. The existing laboratory space was converted to expand their lab and office space for growth. The office areas have new high-end conference rooms, huddle spaces and a kitchen area. The state-of-the-art laboratory area includes cancer research labs, tissue culture labs, incubators, biosafety cabinets and a microscopy lab. All work was performed on an occupied floor abutting live research and development labs in the active building. Construction activities were meticulously planned out and communicated to Surface Oncology to minimize disruption to employees, tenants and building operations. The Timberline team mitigated construction impacts by completing noisy work off hours and they utilized dust barriers to contain dust and particles from the active laboratories that abutted the construction area.
