NEW GROUND-UP COMMERCIAL BUILDING ADJACENT TO RAIL CORRIDOR

Precision planning was key to success in constructing this new five-story ground-up storage facility. Built on a zero lot line adjacent to the busy Northeast Rail Corridor, the project posed complex logistical challenges from permitting and site excavation through construction.

Our team meticulously planned and coordinated construction activities to successfully avoid scheduling conflicts and to precisely time activities to prevent delays. Limited sidewalk access with no laydown area meant deliveries had to be strictly scheduled to be incorporated or installed immediately.

Aerial movements of cranes, concrete pumps and other equipment across the airspace above the railroad tracks required scheduling two weeks in advance—a date that could not move despite the harshest of weather conditions. An additional challenge was halting any aerial activity 15 minutes prior to high-speed trains passing by.

Timberline coordinated closely with the MBTA from the earliest phases of the project to synchronize construction activities with commuter rail, Red Line and Amtrak operations ensuring work proceeded safely and on a timely basis without interruption to rail service.
