Shrewsbury, MAFast-Track Delivery of Two BSL2 Lab Renovations
This pharmaceutical client partnered with Timberline to complete the renovation of two Biosafety Level 2 (BSL2) laboratories in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. The 7,500 SF modernization was delivered on an accelerated 12-week schedule to meet critical research and operational milestones.
In the first lab, Timberline transformed the space to enhance functionality, safety, and flexibility. The team upgraded the infrastructure, installed new casework, and reconfigured benches to accommodate specialized research equipment and liquid handling systems. Enhanced exhaust and ventilation systems, new rooftop exhaust fans, upgraded electrical panels, lighting improvements, and refreshed finishes came together to create a more efficient and productive workspace.
The second lab renovation centered on accommodating 23 new mass spectrometers, a complex process that demanded extensive coordination between mechanical, electrical and process trades. Timberline installed new electrical panels, fabricated utility columns with nitrogen manifolds and specialty outlets, and integrated new piping systems for nitrogen and carbon dioxide. Additionally, reconfigured lab benches, casework modifications, and upgraded lighting provide the flexibility and infrastructure needed to support advanced analytical processes.
Executing two high-performance lab renovations within a compressed 12-week schedule required exceptional teamwork and communication. Timberline worked closely with the project team and the owner’s representative to plan sequencing, manage material logistics and maintain quality standards. The result is a pair of fully modernized laboratories, delivered on time, tested and operational, that meet the client’s needs.
