German International School Boston
Boston & Watertown, MAacademic campus renovations for global learning
Timberline partnered with German International School (GIS) Boston to complete renovations across both their Upper and new Lower Campus, supporting the school’s continued growth and commitment to inclusive, future-ready learning environments.
The newly launched Belmont Street Lower Campus in Watertown, a significant milestone in GIS’s growth, underwent a series of building renovations to support their youngest learners from preschool through Grade 3. Timberline remodeled classrooms and created distinct learning zones tailored to developmental stages, fostering curiosity and cross-cultural understanding. Bathroom fixtures were updated and upgrades to the HVAC and electrical systems were also completed to enhance energy efficiency and indoor air quality.
At the Upper Campus on Holton Street in Boston, which now accommodates Grades 4–12, Timberline executed structural improvements focused on safety, accessibility and collaboration. Key work included shoring the existing structure to replace a central beam, enabling a more open layout. Enlarged cafeteria windows introduce natural light, while a redesigned rear entrance building ramp ensures full ADA compliance. All renovations were completed just in time to welcome both returning and new students for the start of the academic year.
