Notre Dame Long Term Care
Worcester, MAmodernization of a senior CARE FACILTIY for REsident-centered living
Timberline led the design and construction of a 18-month, 55,000 square foot renovation at the Notre Dame Long Term Care facility in Worcester. The project transformed the existing nursing home into a modern, community-driven and patient-focused environment that supports quality of life for residents in sub-acute, long-term care and memory care.
The facility included three resident wings, each with private rooms, activity and dining areas, nurses’ stations, shower rooms and occupational therapy spaces. The renovation also revitalized key community areas including the main chapel, library, parlor, dining and activity rooms, memory care courtyard, offices, and essential back-of-house kitchen and laundry facilities. In total, 69 resident rooms were refreshed, primarily two-bed units with a select number of single specialty care rooms.
To minimize disruption, work was carefully phased over the course of the project, with two resident rooms renovated at a time on a three-week cycle while common spaces were also upgraded. Timberline partnered closely with the Notre Dame team, prioritizing safety and respect for residents and staff. Daily communication, flexible scheduling and on-site support from our in-house design team during the moves ensured that transitions were seamless and resident care remained uninterrupted.
We also selected trade partners experienced in healthcare and senior living environments and upheld the highest standards of safety management throughout construction. The result is a brighter, refreshed facility that fosters connection, supports wellness and preserves the dignity of every resident.
